Every run is a round trip. The way down is about survival, the way up is about greed — and knowing when to let go.
Your heavy tech hook plunges into the ocean and keeps accelerating. Drift it left and right to slip past schools of fish, stinging jellyfish, rock shelves and coral. The water darkens as you sink — only your spotlight shows what is ahead.
At the bottom the winch kicks in and the hook races back to the surface. Now you want contact: touch a fish to hook it. Every catch fires the hook sideways with a physical impulse — aim that bounce into the next fish.
Every fish on the line adds weight. A small fish adds about 5% tension, a deep-sea monster up to 28%. A jellyfish sting adds a sudden spike. Hit 100% and the line snaps — the entire catch is lost.
Press Space during the ascent to release the smallest fish on your line. It lowers the tension so you can keep hauling the giants. Sacrificing a sardine to save a giant squid is always a good trade.
Land your catch to earn coins, then upgrade three systems: Line Strength (more tension capacity), Dive Depth (from 95 m down to 820 m) and Spotlight Power (see further in the dark).
Field guide
Each species lives in its own band of water. Lighter fish are easy tension; the monsters of the abyss pay the most but can snap an unprepared line in two catches. Your in-game Codex records every species you land.

Yes. Abyssal Drift is completely free and runs directly in your web browser. There is nothing to download or install and no account to create.
No. Coins are a virtual score you earn only by playing and spend only on upgrades inside the game. They cannot be bought, sold, withdrawn or exchanged, and they have no real-world value. The game has no loot boxes, betting or other chance-based paid mechanics.
Any recent version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari on desktop, laptop, tablet or phone. Use a mouse or keyboard on a computer and drag with your finger on a touch screen.
Your coins, upgrades and codex are stored in your own browser using local storage. Nothing is sent to our servers. If you clear your browser data or switch devices, your progress starts fresh.
Move the mouse, drag a finger or use the arrow keys / A and D to steer the hook. Press Space (or tap the on-screen button) to reel in early during the descent, and to release your smallest fish during the ascent. Esc or P pauses the game and M toggles sound.
Abyssal Drift is a non-violent arcade game with no chat, no ads inside the game, no purchases and no sign-up, so it is suitable for players of all ages.
